On various grounds
To David, the stranger
To my sayang who's a strong believer in Einstein’s "Mind over Matter"
To Lionel who’s currently in Shanghai fucking the capitalists (well done, my postmodern friend)
“My past, my experiences, have indeed taught me a lot, yet nothing. They have also given me a lot, yet nothing. When you have nothing, nothingness does not really bother you but when you have something, having nothing is a pain; an adversity.” -Snow 011106-
On Flashbacks
Looking at my reflection at the mirror today reminded me of my childhood. I remind myself of the person I’ve always wanted to be; to achieve. Now that I’ve finally reached my childhood destination, it is depressing to realize that all that hard work of wanting to be the ME today summed up to nothing. Now, I care too much, love too much, bother too much and seek too much for perfection to a point of nausea. It has become something that is of nothing; a mask, which layers I have doubly thickened throughout the years that cannot be removed. Or maybe, I’m not willing to. I have created my very own life of faux liberty.
On Life
Very often, people casually question, “How’s life, babe?” without weighing the vagueness of the very inevitable-everyday-conversational piece of shit question. It’s like a trendy phrase that either people misuse or overuse. Life is a joke; just like civilization. We think we’re evolving but we’re going in circles; creating a circular installation artwork out of our silly selves.
“Civilization is commonly proclaimed as an advanced state of intellectual, cultural, and material development in human society. It becomes a laughing stock when one realizes that instead of “moving forward”, it all turned out to be a shallow domestication of a larger than life bombardment of a set of common believes; leaving no room for questioning the unquestionable. Consequently, the rise of the philosophical minority is hastily cast away; or be branded insane, dismissing every possibility beyond possibility. A comfort zone for stereotypes is formed to protect the mind of the common society, simultaneously buttering up the expandable feasibilities which carry a great length of diverse revelation that might cause a great amount of stir followed by the extension of creative retaliation.” -Snow 110506-
On Denial & Defeat
Let’s not forget that Denial is our closest friend and our greatest companion. We practically stay with it day and night, 24/7. Denial is special; one that we keep close to our hearts and when everything fails, denial is a friend indeed. Very often, we settle down with denial, and false hopes are what we hang on to. I was just telling another being, “False hopes are some of the greatest ingredients we live by everyday when we befriend very closely with denial. They are the key to our survivorship today.” Like liquid dreams, wishful thinking. They all come in the greatest blissful package. With that, we try very hard to keep a distance with Defeat. Some decide to end their lives once defeat steps in and some decide to shut down their systems; turning to art and philosophy as a scapegoat.
On Hardships and Heart Shapes
“What do you know about hardships, Snow?” Honestly, I don’t. I was indeed born with a silver spoon and no matter how hard I try to battle for independence, I cease to prevail. I grew up in a cotton candy wrapped life until I decided that cotton candy was way fattening. Growing up with a full package of unconditional love completely backfired into becoming a form of hardship when dealing with matters of the heart that do not concern my family.
In my naïve mode, I used to question, “But why? Mommy and daddy were not like that. They’re still not like that.” It was the environment I was molded in to becoming a giver and specifically the giver of unconditional and infinite love. The bitch of a society that secretly worship these trendy vices hypocritically tells you that this is a new era; so it’s a norm; it’s a phase; how bout a divorce? Oh great, what convenience, mate. It’s like shopping on e-bay or amazon.com; you don’t like it, you can return it and money back guarantee (pheww, thank God for pre-nups).
On Pursuit
Security is somewhat and somehow misunderstood most of the time as to be found in someone else, when it is in ourselves that we find security. “The ability to be alone is a skill to be acquired.” Economics has placed us in the Maslow pyramid by telling us our hierarchy of needs and how we yearn to belong, and how we NEED love, security, protection and etc. Are we that predictable or are we programmed and domesticated to fit into this colorful pyramid? Maybe Maslow was right about his pyramid until we start adding on flavors by telling everyone specifically FROM WHOM we can satisfy our needs. Bunch of cheaters.
On Human Condition
“Baby, you know why I love you? Well, because you’re my most obvious modernist and structuralist in denial.” In the process of deluding ourselves into thinking that we have greatly evolved, we have evoked a new breed of modernist; where we act like we know a great deal of humanity, faith, judgment and religion. People conclude other people and exclude the ones who refuse to conclude. They can’t live with an understanding; rather they need a conclusion. They’re afraid of overlapping confusion without realizing that they themselves summoned them. Sometimes, they get so screwed up that they either turn to science or religion. One is bizarre enough to amuse, while the other is intangible enough not to question.
“It is the betrayal of the century when everyone is basically leashed and subdued to the common ground with a complimentary package of unquestionable “truths” and “norms” the moment they were brought into this world. This set of doctrines is conveniently brought down from one generation to the next without noticing the whole controversy and is accepted without consideration. The few who bothered to show a slight hint of curiosity are usually branded as the trouble makers or worse still the perplexed and ill.” –Snow 110506-
